Default The road to my 2018 STX build...

I have been looking for a decent 2009-2014 F150 for about a month or so. Trying to balance my “list of demands” with mileage, price and distance from my house, is not easy. One good thing is that I do Ford parts here in Rhode Island so I can check the VINs for the options that I want that are sometimes not listed in the ad...and also for any red flags or fleet vehicles.

This is my list...
V8
4x4
Super Crew
Gray or Black interior
Floor Shifter
Limited Slip
5.5’ bed

I don’t even really care what color the truck is because they all look good!
There is a black 2010 Lariat about an hour away that I think my wife and I will go look at today. It has a few more miles than I would like (133k) but it has the list and the price is right.

stay tuned...

Welcome to the forum and also good luck on your search. I'm sure you will find what you are looking for and don't have to settle for something that doesn't have the features you are looking to find.

Well, we went to look at the 2010 Lariat today...it was in pretty rough shape. It had some pretty good scratches and dings, the sunroof and both mirrors were broke, cab corners and rockers were starting to bubble and the frame had more rust than I would like to deal with...and it looked so good in the pics.

the search continues...

Edit: tried to find a picture of this truck, but it’s offline

We went to look at a 2010 FX4 with 86k last Saturday, it was another one about an hour away in MA. It had my list and everything worked. Before I go back inside to get a plate so we can drive it, I look over body and paint and frame etc...and I notice the paint on the passenger front door looks a little funky. I thought it might be the glare or the angle so I have Sarah (my wife) get out and take a look. She agreed it didn’t look right. I proceed to look at the passenger rear door a little closer and it too was less than perfect. Then I notice an odd looking crease in the right rear corner of the cab where the recess is for the bed. I compared it to the smoothness of the drivers side and it definitely wasn’t right. The truck was whacked pretty good on that side and not repaired very well...and the Carfax was clean.
We brought the keys back inside and told them we were going to pass.

About 20 minutes southwest from the FX4 there was another black 2010 Lariat with the list, so we decided to check it it out while we were in the area. It was clean, drove really nice, everything worked and I found no signs of it ever being in a wreck. Why didn’t I buy it?...the place wouldn’t budge on the price (rightfully so I guess, it was nice) and we couldn’t get the payment to where I needed to be.

the search continues...
