So for the cover, I didn't have to "drill" through it sorta speak, there are two aluminum bedside plates that extend over the plastic ones that I had to take the grinder to to create a sort of half moon where the bolts went through but it worked out perfect because the plate on the chase rack sits flush right on top of the bed cover plate and covers it up nicely. Honestly the bigger issue I had to deal with was gaining access to the bolts on the chase rack once the bed cover was in because it rolls into the bed and the hosing drops down and there is about and 1"-2" of space between the the bed side wall and the bed cover housing... let me just say there was a lot of swearing!
