I've made more progress on eliminating all of the chrome. First I swapped the chrome HID's out for the black one's. It was a little more expensive than I anticipated and also a PITA making the ballast wire connections (I ruined a $30 cable in the process) inside that housing, but it was worth it! Also had a local shop wrap my front and rear bumpers in vinyl. I used 3M gloss black metallic vinyl and it's almost identical to the tuxedo black. I was worried the vinyl would be a noticeable difference vs. the factory paint but it turned out great. A buddy of mine who does high end custom paint jobs even thought they were painted at first glance

Got some new wheels! Found a good deal on some Novakane's and didn't have to wait for the typical BMF backorder so I jumped on it. Discount Tire quoted me $1500 OTD for 295/55r20 trail grapplers which seems reasonable but if anyone knows where I can get a great deal on some trail grapplers or open country m/t's I'd love to know! I also ordered an Auto Spring 2.5" level and an add-a-leaf for the rear, I'm hoping I can get the dealer to put it on for a reasonable price and not worry about warranty issues. I can't wait to put this stuff on it's killing me! Here's a pic of the wheels...

If you don't mind, how much did that vinyl treatment for the bumpers cost. I have the same model as you but an 07 and I HATE all of the chrome. I looked into having them painted but the price made the chrome look not so bad haha but if I could get rid of them then they're gone.

Good looking truck. I think those rims would look perfect on it. That price for tires seems to be about normal. There were some cheaper deals out there, but haven't seen any in a while. Haven't really been looking either. Lol. And BOOMER!

I paid $425 for both the front and rear bumpers. I had to pull them off and take them to their shop for that price so I imagine it would have been quite a bit more if I had them do it. Pulling the rear bumpers was easy, the front was a little more time consuming and lots of bolts to keep track of. I did have some quotes as high as $600 so shop around and make sure they are a reputable shop!

What made you choose vinyl over painted bumpers?

Thanks! The Nova's are my favorite. I was originally going to get the Fuel Mavericks cuz they were cheaper but so many people are getting them now I used that excuse to spend the extra $$ Dang m/t tires are crazy expensive! i did find some Atturo Trail Blades for about a grand, they look good but I'm skeptical of the quality. Can't do anything though til I get the thing leveled so I'll just be staring at boxes for a week or two...bummer!

SOOONER!!

The cost was the only factor really. I really wanted painted bumpers but going the ptm route with new oem parts would have cost me around $1000. Salvage or aftermarket parts would be cheaper of course but i didn't feel good about that option. If you do decide to do vinyl it is very important that you let a reputable company do it - one that does a lot of wraps for local fleet vehicles would be good so you can see their work. *Side note - Avoid tint shops or car audio type places that advertise vinyl work and of course stay far, far, away from Craigslist service ads

Default New wheels and level!

Today was a good day, got it leveled and put on the new wheels and tires - turned out great I think! I went with the AS 2.5" front spacers and an add-a-leaf in the rear because I will be towing quite a bit. Wheels are 20x9 BMF Novakane 0 offset wrapped with 295/55r20 Toyo M/T's (33 x 12.2 according to Toyo). I knew they were going to stick out quite a bit from the fenders and I was worried I wouldn't like it but I think it's just the right amount of "aggressive". I do plan on getting the ptm fender flares, probably the aftermarket ones that stick on but I have more research to do on that. Here are some pics...

I know they aren't the greatest pics. I'll take more after I wash it and get it polished up. Let me know what you guys think!
