Last weekend I had a chance to get on the dyno with the stock tires and had an absolute blast. The truck made great numbers with a dirty air filter, 112k on the clock, a tune and a downpipe back exhaust. If you listen to some of the 5.0 guys the truck should've blown up by now without a catch can and being 93 tuned for 40k miles.

My buddy also brought out his bone stock regular cab shortbed 5.0 and threw that thing on the dyno too. The truck made good power, and it certainly hauls the mail being several hundred pounds lighter than my tuck.

I can't thank New England Dyno and Tuning enough for hosting our car club. The owner John is a great guy with tons of knowledge in custom tuning everything from classic 454 Chevys to new 5.0 Mustangs. This place really is a hidden gem, and I'll be sure to visit it again when I get the meth injection and a few other performance parts put on. If you're in the Massachusetts, Rhode Island, CT area, this place is a great place to go.

Thanks man, I'm pumped actually. Just proves the truck is still solid after so many tuned miles. Not that I'm hard on the thing, but I definitely push it every once in a while.

I’m assuming no to this but does tire size affect those number or is it so you can fit on the dyno?

I think it actually adds a small amount of drivetrain loss. On a dyno this may be slightly beneficial depending on the gear you're doing the pull in, but I think in most cases it lowers the numbers a little bit. All these pulls were done in 3rd because I don't trust 4th at 125 with the OEM tires haha.

I recently threw some switchback LED turn signals from SuperBrightLeds.com in my headlights. I love the look and the increased output is always awesome. I'm thinking of switching my setup soon, so the TRS bulbs, ballasts, harness and Spyder housings may be for sale in the near future.

I can't believe it was still snowing here on April 2nd!

Lots of changes since April. First I found a set of used trail grapplers that I threw on my stock wheels with a set of BORA 1.75" spacers so I could be back on big tires for the UConn Car Show.

Heres the truck before a wicked thunderstorm we had that ended with several tornadoes touching down across the state.

Did a little wheeling with the new setup and I was very impressed. Even with only about 60% of tread life on the tires these things powered through everything I threw at them.

Here is an example of how much poke you get with the 1.75" spacers on OEM FX4 18s.

Although the trail grapplers were great off road, they left a little to be desired in the highway commuting department. I spend a lot of time on the highway, so I knew my next set of tires and wheels had to have good road manners and be something I could use all year round. After a lot of deliberation, I decided to go with a set of XD 135 Grenade ORs in 18x8.5 and 285/75r18 Toyo RTs. I wanted to get away from the "bro" look with wild wheels and tires, and just wanted something a little less expensive and more fitting for a truck with 120k on the ODO that recently finds itself offroad more and more.
I figured the light weight wheels and skinny 35" tires would make a great combo for gas savings and winter driving.

The XD wheels I picked up for a good deal through EXO Offroad on instagram. They're big into the raptor scene leading expeditions and regularly posting cool content. I got the tires through Simple Tire for the best price around, and they were on my door step in less than 3 days. Can't recommend those guys enough.

I don't have any killer photos yet, but heres a teaser for now.
