1989 F150 A Slow Build
Hi All, I bought this truck a while back for $700. The body is pretty straight but obviously rusted and not well cared for. There is a lot of rust but not a lot of rot through. I plan to leave the body as is maybe sand off the loose stuff and clear coat. I recently bought a set of tires from craigslist five for $110. It is going to be a slow build. Plans now clean up the engine and interior and repair the interior. There is a considerable amount of rot in the cab that will be fixed.Indian blanket seat cover and rubber pebble floor mat and a set of gauges round out the interior. Here are a coupe pix from went she came home. More pix tomorrow. Jim

Gutted the air pump today. Cleaned off the rust. Welded up the openings. Gave it a coat of paint. Hoping for no rain tomorrow and I can get this and the alternator back on. Jim

Thanks. Short term is new exhaust and a nice interior. Long term maybe a warmed over 302 and C4 or C6. New to these generation of Fords. I had a 79 F100 when I was young. Short bed with the 302 4sp OD. Loved that truck but it rusted out and I sold it. Trying to do this truck with minimum funds. Craigslist, ebay are my friends. Any info on the LS swap? Thanks. Jim

Thank you. Update, I got it back together today got in turned the key and after a while letting the fuel get there, it ran and ran pretty good. I didn't take it on the road yet. I don't think this has run for a while because it was smoking off all kinds of stuff. All surface, no leaks except fora a drippy transmission. I checked the trans fluid because when i was pulling it in the driveway when I got it, it was slow to creep into the driveway. Some here said when they sit they may leak. Sure enough it is pretty low. I changed 4 plugs, started to rain. They look old. All and all good day. Jim
