Default Great write-up/How-to... the only thing I would add to this is

This is the best How-to I have seen for the 4R70W and better then most of the generic transmission How To's out there... It would have been nice if it had a skip to this step if you have a 2WD. Of course its easy enough to know which steps you dont have to do but because of all the ads jumping all over the screen and shifting the authors work all over the place. I know its necessary in order to host this forum and not charge membership fees but you dont have to give up the functionality just so some jackass company can splash their stuff in your face and use trickory to get you to click their link. I would love to know how many people actually say to themselves, "Hell yes! I've always wanted a life insurance policy" or purchase something after being click tricked onto the advertisors site. What genius at the iSUCK Marketing company came up with floating ads that block the info you are reading or position their links at spots where you normally click to scroll down, jump to next page, etc... I dont know about all you guys but it just ticks me off having to dodge the ads or constantly fight it so that I can view whats hidden underneath the ads. Sorry to post my gripement (comment) here when it probably should be a complaint sent to the admins maybe... i dont know but mechanic related forums are no place for advertisors to be using these tactics. Like most people im working on my vehicle and its nothing but a pain the *** to me.

PS. Who qoutes an entire how-to article just to leave a comment... they probaby works at iSUCK Marketing company with the other genius.

Here I sit, twenty days later than your last post and I too appreciate the effort of OP! Thank you! I mean seriously, thank you! There's not a lot of info to build these slushboxes and that's a bit concerning. I mean... the 4R7XX is perhaps the most prolific transmission ever produced! I'm dead serious too! I am willing to lay a $20 down against anyone that thinks otherwise! Between the F150 and the Crown Vic? I mean... come on! Why is there not an absolute plethora of rebuild walkthroughs?


Seems to me that we have an industry trying to protect itself by virtue of hoarding informationb. In my opinion that's a terrible job security tool because it's inevitable that you'll lose! *steps off soap box*

Well done OP. Mine is rebuilt and ready to be mounted tomorrow. We'll see if I successfully rebuilt it. Was looking for reinstall help but alas... it's hard to find. Wierd. It's how I found this forum anyway; There's that!

Oh well, I can figure it out.

I wrote the "how to" and I am in no way affiliated with this forum(other than a member), any marketing company, or otherwise suggested ads. I'm simply a member of a forum who wanted to help others that may run into similar issues. As these older trucks are passed down to younger sons and daughters, I think its a good idea to give them some insight and allow hands on. It is not overly detailed, but gives the person confidence.

I could sure use a link to that writeup too. I recently had a transmission shop rebuild my tranny for me as a carry out. I have a friend who works as a mechanic and he had offered to help me do the removal/installation. I was a bit leery as this friend means well but has a tendency to get in way too much of a hurry. Well things did not go like I had hoped and I'm about to remove that tranny again to see what the problem is but this time I think I will do it myself.

On the plus side this will give me the chance to install the "extra" three or four bellhousing bolts I found after my friend left. And generally make sure that it is done right. On the downside I'm pretty tired of lying under that filthy truck. I think it has been leaking every type of fluid it has for a long time and I live on a dirt road...

But I can't afford to have someone else do it so there's only one way to get it done. Hence, I would really love a link to this write-up.
