I think I'm gonna tackle this mod soon - quick question though. Could I tap the reverse signal for the camera into the wiring for my trailer hitch lights or the reverse signals in my tail lights? Correct me if I'm wrong but I figure that the it would come on when the lights come on so it would work? Then just hook the reverse wire from the harness to the reverse wire under the kick panel? I don't have much experience with this so please forgive me if I'm completely wrong.

However, you are still running a video cable back to the cab anyways, just run a another pair of wires (power and signal) back to the cab along with the video cable. I, personally, don't like making splices in wires under the truck where they can corrode in the weather. Just pull the kick panel, tap the wire there, run the other wire to 12v (I just used the radio's 12v). you need to run a wire from the reverse lights to the radio as well, so the radio knows when to turn on the display.
But yes, you can tap the light wires in the back, but I wouldn't

You COULD.

My way of installing backup camera is more expensive but a lot less labor intensive. I will describe below how to.
Drive to dealer, remove contents and place in a dealer supplied double ply grocery bag.
Sign a few documents drive away in new truck with backup camera already installed.

Hi all,
Just finished my installation of an Alpine BU-cam to my Alpine INA-W910 DVD Navigation Receiver. Used the proprietary "direct" connection w/ a trigger wire connected to my left reverse light. The trigger works, when I put the truck into reverse the radio display switches to the reverse view like it's supposed to. However. The radio display flashes off for just a second whenever I step on the brake pedal or switch on the turn signal. It's as if a brief pulse of power hits the back-up light causing the camera to switch on momentarily. Does this make any sense? Is there something I can do to trouble-shoot or correct this?
Regards,
Mike
