I love my 5.0. I enjoyed driving the EB but nothing beats the sound and feeling of a v8. Plus I just didn't have a need for the low end torque of the eco. I don't regret my decision at all, in fact everytime I drive it I feel better about the decision I made

In a second. I love my 5.0. It gets good fuel mileage and tows my 4000 pound trailer like its not even back there! Personally I think I'm done with small engines, they get good MPGs if you baby them but if you push them at all or put a trailer behind them they drink fuel like there is no tomorrow. Plus before I even consider the EB it needs to stand the test of time. I know Ford tried really hard to kill the EB was wasn't able to but sill time makes a difference too. Also while turbos work well they are expensive and make a real mess of your intake system when they do fail. I work on Mack's for a living and its a pain to clean metal fragments and oil out of the after cooler when a turbo gives up.

I would buy it again! It has different power than previous V-8s. The torque is not there off idle while putting along and slowly giving it gas. It has to downshift a gear, or two, or three if to the floor. But Im still getting used to the 6spd which ford has programmed to shift to whatever gear to keep the motor in an efficient range. and the idle seems low at 500 rpm in Drive stopped. but these are things that ford can change to get every little bit of MPG to keep EPA happy. After driving it for a 4000miles ive learned it comes natural now to drive it in a a way that makes the me and truck happiest! comes natural like driving stick. I love it and it FEELS fast. but i havent towed with it yet.

Earlier this year I owned an EB that was equipped like the 5.0 I have now only it was a supercab. Like a lot of you I have a V8 addiction. Long story short I traded a Boss 302 for the truck I have now. I just love the way it runs and sounds. I have no regrets and would do it again. Maybe I should do something about my username?

And how many miles do those Mack's have when the turbos go out on them?

Yes- I would buy the 5.0 again. I have had my truck for a littl e over a month and I feel that this engine is light years ahead of the 5.4 I drove. I filled with E-85 yesterday and went to pass a Chevy Silverado later in the day and my head snapped against the head rest- it was like I was being launched in a rocket. I love the growl!!

I have run one tank of premium 91 octane 0% ethanol gas (v-power) got 22mpg combined but didn't notice an appreciable power increase. I think it would take the computer longer than one tank to see the changes.
After I learned 87 here in ON had ethanol, I switched to 91. Traveling in US now (MI) and you guys don't have 91, but I picked up a full tank of 93 for less than a dollar per liter! I think it was US$3.60 per gallon. With these prices there's no reason NOT TO use premium. It's better for the engine.
