Default Twin Turbo Maintanence

This is my first vehicle with turbos. I kept my 4runner for 250k and would still be running if someone knew that stop signs are otma suggestion. Anyway, I take care of my tucks but don't know a thing about turbos, how they work, what to feed them to make them bigger and better, how to get the most life from them. HELP!

Love the truck it has great power, just want to make it last and perform
Thanks

good oil ,let your turbos cool down before shutting off the engine ,help your tranny as well, avoid boosting in overdrive
opinion based on 5 owned turbo engines not the ECO

Have fun

Read your owners manual and follow the recommended maintenance schedule.

EcoBoost turbos are liquid cooled and do not need to be cooled down before shutting off the engine.

It is still a good idea to let them cool a bit or take it easy on the acceleration for the last couple minutes of driving the truck before you get to your destination.

I've been driving cars with liquid cooled turbos for 10+ years and they all benefited with longevitiy of the parts and turbos if they were just driven easy or nice for those last few miles. Driving it hard right up until you turn it off isn't the best idea, but it remains to be seen how that might effect the current technology in turbos.

Follow the maintenance schedule, don't drive it hard in the first few or last few minutes of driving, and pay attention for any suspicious noises or sounds or anything out of the ordinary and have it fixed or looked at immediately. This can be said for any car, but especially true for forced induction vehicles.

I put a couple of saltines in the air box every now and then, turbos love little treats from time to time.

Its your truck and your money but if you are interested, do a search, you will find the majority of owners still advise a small cool down even on a water cooled system .
My last turbo was both water cooled and oiled cooled and it still recommended a cool down of a few minutes after a good run.
I sold the car with 260,000 clicks on it,never had a problem

Yes this is a newbie sounding question, but I've heard that sometimes turbos take a while to spin down after the engine is shut off? I've seen something like up to a minute?
