All things being equal the EB should net you 5-10% better mileage. I ordered my truck due to not being able to find the configuration you refer to. They do not appear to be on the lots. I made up my mind at the very end purely on MPG and the TQ curve of the EB. I had been driving diesels since 95 so it made me feel at home.

Honestly, if you are going to buy either one of them and then come back and post about how terrible the mpgs are. Don't buy a new truck, but a small hybrid and keep the truck you have now(for towing your boat so I assume you have a truck already) I say this because many people think the EB or the 5.0 for the that matter, SHOULD get 20+ mpg or something must be wrong. My sticker said combined 18mpg..5.0 17mpg, don't get me wrong there are people who do better and I have even seen more than a couple a tank fills of 19.5mpg, but don't expect 20+mpg all day long ever day...not gonna happen..

EB may be best for you IDK.I drive 90% in stop and go and if I baby it I can get around 17 if not about 15.5 in the 5.0.You didn't mention if it was a 11 or 12 year model but I'd wait on the 36 gallon tank for the EB.You'll be happy with either choice.

Maybe instead of comparing the Ecoboost to 5.0 we should be comparing the two of them to the competition: Dodge, Chevy / GMC, Nissan, Toyota, etc.....

My 2011 XLT has a 6.5' bed, EcoBoost engine. What's the big deal?
