Overheating, Repaired and now Ford has a hold on my truck
Last week my new 2011 F150 over heated and shut down. Had it towed to the dealer and they replaced tubes, fittings and thermostat. The dealer ran the tests and the results to Ford. Now Ford has placed a hold on the vehicle saying internal temp too high. The service is waiting on instructions from Ford on what to do. Did I mention the truck only has 1300 miles on it and I've only had it a month! Anybody else have this experience, should I use the buy back option from Ford?

Sorry your having problems, this is the first over heating problem that i've heard of with these new engines, did a search which revealed nothing as well. What engine do you have?

First, which engine, second what were the driving condition when this occurred? Lastly if you have a buy back option...do it, first I have heard of this issue, especially Ford placing a "hold" on the truck......

It's a 2011 Screw EB with the 6.5 bed, we were having temps in 90+ range before this happened. The area temps dropped to the 60s, it was around 65 and raining when it overheated. I drive mostly town and state routes, no towing. Two weeks before drove it Columbus, Oh approx 80 miles away, 90+ degree day and some real city driving, had no problems. I called customer relations and they Ford want to replace the head gasket. I don't like the fact they want to tear into a brand new engine.

If internal temps did in fact get too high I'd want a new engine as well. If it was a simple over heat then a new HG shouldn't be needed. Keep us posted on the findings.
