Had problems w/ my 2011 EB, had the missing, shuddering issue. Every time I took it in for oil, they said spark plugs were bad. Then they did the latest TSB - lost power and missed even worse.

On Memorial Day, I picked up my '13 5.0 equipped just like my old truck. Love it! Getting better mileage, no more lag, has a real truck sound (Borla S-type helps) and since I got white, it doesn't show dirt. I am loving it!

The huge weight penalty is the biggest reason for the power variance, much higher load factors when you try to push a truck that fast.
It might have been designed for DI in mind but certainly not turbos unless you swap out those weak rod and pistons..

'Designed' and 'built' are two different words with two different meanings. The 5.0 was designed to be a DITT engine, just like the ecoboost. Ford engineers have stated that whether they decide to 'build' the engine that way remains to be seen. It already had DI bosses cast into the head so just swap out the 'weak' rods and pistons and viola.

I'm not sure I totally agree with your assessment of 'weak' though. While not forged, they have supported over 900bhp. I can't seem to find a 900hp Eco... Nope, one doesn't exist. Maybe an 800hp Eco... Nope, how 'bout a 700hp... Nope. 600... Nope.

Not real sure how some people seem to know how much power an engine will take from FI??? If you care to look around there are plenty of turbo/supercharged 5.0 Mustang and F150's around. Are they just lucky??? On the other side of the coin I have always heard about how much boost GM motors will handle. I am willing to bet there are many more boosted Fords around than there are GM's....

like i was saying in another thread, if the ecoboost had the mustang aftermarket behind it, you would see those numbers..

This argument doesn't hold water...

26,xxx mustangs sold in 2011

http://mustangsdaily.com/blog/2011/0...ction-in-2011/

...Ford has sold more than 200,000 trucks with that engine over the past 18 months and expects to sell as many as 200,000 a year in the future.

Soooo, 133,333 vs 26,xxx. LOTS more Eco F150's sold than Mustang 5.0's. 5 to 1...

This is what it would look like. No cheese here, just 302 cubic inches of Ford V8!
