Correction, I geared to 4.73. When I did the calculation this got me to the stock RPM and MPH. And yes I thought it was worht it. I only have a 4x2 so it was less expensive than a 4x4.

What tuner did you use? I was looking into that before but I was limited becasue the truck/engine was so new.

I used the hypertech max programmer. I chose this one because it allows you to change the tire size, change the gear ratio, if I change it, and do a program to increase hp by 10hp and torque. Over all I can feel a difference. It's not burn rubber, but there is a difference.

Mine is 4x2 also. 4wheel parts said it would be about $700 installed. I do a lot of highway driving so I think it will be worth it. Maybe after Christmas. They said I should go with 4.10 ratio.

Exclamation Xlt v6

The XLT is a bit stiffer in price than the XL, and even the STX, but i definately like the upgrades of the XLT.

I was having issues with the 5,000 difference in the XL to XLT price difference, but the 2013 XLT I got had 6,250 in rebates on it....

$31,525 sounds outrageous for a 2013 Regular Cab 3.7 V6 XLT, but
there was a $1000 package discount on the 301A XLT pkg.

Since this was a '13 closeout, $22,144 wasn't bad at all in my opinion.

That was 6,250 in rebates for the XLT trim (could have been 8,000 for the scab or screw...but msrp higher)...

and there was a dealer discount of about 3,100.

i did have a 5.0 in an earlier F150, but adjusting to the V6 hasn't been a real big issue.

I'd go XLT. The discounts for the Chrome package and 301 package make those a no brainer, and there are extra incentives available on the XLTs sometimes. You get Sirius radio, the upgraded stereo (not the top end one, but better than the basic Sync), the 4.5 inch screen in the dash with a the fuel-o-meter, transmission temp and a bunch of other apps and goodies (This is worth the price of admission ALONE). After incentives and package discounts you're only $1500 to $2000 more than power-equipped XL. Trust me, the fuel-o-meter will save you money by changing your driving habits to squeezing out more fuel economy out of this engine. You'll save that $1500 over the life of the truck.

I understand your problem with the carpeting -- this is the first truck I've ever owned with carpet too -- but just get those custom heavy duty rubber mats that cover 90% of the carpet, and you'll be fine. Sure, you can't clean it out with a blower, but the shopvac will do that job in not much more time.

Driving unloaded how does the 5.0 feel compared to the 3.7?

Going to be installing my Roush intake here soon and then afterwords installing a magnaflow exhaust system (dual exit before rear tire). I'm pretty sure I will not need a tune afterwords but I'm just asking in advance.

I bought my F-150 on 10/21/11. It is a XLT Regular Cab with the 3.7L V6. It is my second truck or SUV with a V6. My first was a 2007 Honda Ridgeline. The Ridgeline had its own sets of pros and cons. One of the biggest was the horrendous mileage it gets. It was 15 MPG city, and 20 MPG highway. Now, it rode very nice, had a lot more cabin space then my truck does now. Any more, it is only my Mom and I or my two nephews and I. My regular cab suits me fine, I just wish it had that semi-extended cab appearance like the 2004-2008 F-150s had. I'd love to have more space for groceries, etc.

I'm more then happy with my mileage with my F-150. With my last job I commuted too, was getting 18 to 19 MPG. Now, with heavy in-city driving I get 16 MPG. On some road trips I took that were between Arizona and New Mexico I averaged 22 MPG highway going up in elevation, and one MPG better on my way back to Arizona.

I made the choice of the 3.7L V6 for a mix of economy and power. I have never towed before with any of my trucks and have hauled only light loads in the bed. It isn't Ecoboost quick like my Mom's F-150 was, but it is quick enough for me!

Having owned both a 5.0 V8, and a 3.7 V6, I have to admit, i liked the 5.0 a bit better as far as "get up and go".

From stop to go, the V6 seems a bit sluggish getting going. when you're up to cruising speed, or even passing someone, I don't really notice any difference.

the 5.0 V8 seems a bit quieter than the V6. and i've seen no difference in fuel economy.. Average about 20 in the V6 and the 5.0 seemed to hover around 19.8....

I don't use the truck for hauling much and no towing, so overall i'm happy with it.
