Default Gas in EB Oil

I just completed an oil change. Before I started I checked the oil and it showed to be way overfilled, at least 3/4 of an inch up the dipstick. I drained it and measured at least 7 quarts. Every oil change I put in one 5.27 quart jug plus one more quart. I think I had over a quart of gas in my crankcase!!! My truck has 38k miles and runs okay. Mileage has decreased with time but its not too horrible.

My question is how much gas is cause for concern. This oil had right at 5k miles on it. I normally change it every 5-6k since new. I am extremely worried. I guess i have at least one leaking injector. I'm going on a 1200 mile trip next weekend.

Some fuel dilution is normal for direct injection engines. Yours sounds a bit excessive however.

I've noticed less fuel dilution with my Livernois tune. The truck ran much richer on he stock tune. But even with the stock tune the oil level never red high on the dip stick, it just smelled gassy.

This was a lot of gas. Not sure what to do. I have no confidence in either dealership in town. I have had nothing but poor experiences at both service departments.

Get an oil analysis asap. Knock on wood, my oil level never moves. I don't trust my local dealer either, 100 miles to get to service.

I'll order the kit. Do you think the damage has already been done to the engine? Even if i fixed the injector now I'm not sure I won't have related problems in the near future.

It depends on how diluted the oil was. If there's not much metal in the oil or gas then you'll probably be ok. I've seen 6.0 powerstrokes completely fill the crankcase with diesel. After an injector and oil change, those trucks were good for 100k+.

What oil are you running, there are some that fight dilution slightly better. I think I'm going to settle on 4k mile changes on mine.

How would a tech determine which injector is leaking? Doubt they would replace them all.
