The locker is unlocked on the road until you select it... And I have a 3.55 LS on my 2008 and I promise the LS on these trucks don't work at all. I spin one wheel all the time

Seriously a 4x4 in Toronto, if your in "Toronto" and not the outlying areas I am on the floor laughing my *** off. Seriously 4x4, biggest snow fall Toronto got this year was 3 inches. Toronto doesn't know snow, they just complain about. I guess you received your big cheque from Mr. Mayor Ford, for your sucker vehicle registration. Leave the 4x4 for the people that will actually use it

Thumbs up

I just bought my second Ford (2011 XLT Ecoboost 4x4 3.55 LS) because of the reliability I had with my first(2000 XLT 5.4Triton). I still have the 2000 model. 137,000 miles no major problems.

The Idle air control motor carboned up Twice (Fixed Myself)
Electric Door Lock motors went out.(Replaced myself)
Coil packs started to go out one by one at 105,000 (replaced myself)
Transmission Fluid changed once at 65,000
Battery after 6 years (replaced myself)
Brakes four times (Three myself once in Brakeshop Never again )
Spark Plugs 110,00 (Done at Repair Shop)
Radiator Fluid changed at 100,00 (Myself)
Shock Absorbers at 136,00 (Replace myself)
Front Sway Bar links at 136,00(Replace myself)
Oil (Mobile1 5w30 for last 5 years)
Air filters once a year
Fuel Filter 3 (replaced myself)
Tires
One Windshield.
Divers seat (cloth) starting to tear from wear)

So you see why I kept it. So far only once in shop for maintenance.
That is it, no light bulbs or even a blown fuse so far
Original exhaust still good.

My 5.0 engine has given me more fit's so far then all the other Ford engines I've had in the past. Have had 4 injector's and one O2 sensor changed so far. Check engine light has been staying on for about 3 week's and they finally may have the problem corrected. Just picked up the truck this evening and I'll give it a good test tomorrow on my 100 mile a day commute. Best vehicle I ever had was a 2000 Super Duty with the 5.4 gas engine, 4 year's and zero trip's for any warranty work.

My experience with Ford trucks are as follows:

1992 Ranger 4.0L 2wd=298,000miles. Donated the truck to Goodwill. They sold it for $1890. Just saw it driving around town the other day. Replaced transmission at 250,000miles

2001 F150 4.2L 2wd=147,000miles. Sold it to my cousin who is loving it immensely. Replaced clutch and slave cylinder (manual shift) at 130,000 miles. I used this for hauling near max capacity quite a bit. Not surprised these parts wore a little bit. I don't fear it will break down on him anytime soon.

2011 F150 3.5L EcoBoost=4,200 miles. I don't foresee any problems with this vehicle either.

On the other hand my father has had a few too.

1977 F100=110,000 miles. Had to sell due to having us kids.

1988 F150 5.0L 2wd=91,000 miles. Rebuilt engine at 75,000miles due to oil consumption. Traded in for...

1999 Ranger 4.0L 4wd=100,000 miles. Transfer case went out so he traded in on a...

2010 F150 Lariat 5.4L 4wd. He's as happy as can be with this truck.

As you can see we're averaging about 10 years out of our Ford trucks. I get lots of miles due to long commutes to and from work. I work my trucks on the weekends at the farm. Lots of towing and hauling. My father puts mostly in town miles on his trucks. This seems to be a lot harder on parts than the highway commutes + heavy weekend work. I hope this helps you a little bit.

Cheers

I would strongly recommend giving the Ford a serious serious look. The past (and only) two vehicles that I've had the privilege of driving have been Fords.

The 1st was a 2001 Explorer Sport Track that was purchased in 2000. It saw 120K+ miles before we eventually sold it. Before it was sold we replaced the spark plugs and tires in effort to supply the buyer with the best condition vehicle that we could. Besides that nothing else has ever had to be worked on. The truck was driven for 10 years by my family(mother, brother, and myself) and is still being driven by it's new happy owners.

My current car is a 2010 F150 XLT SuperCrew 4x4 which I purchased in May of last year. While it only has about 15,000 miles on it thus far, I have yet to have a single problem and can't foresee having any in the future.

Over the winter we had nearly two feet of snow on the ground. Obviously there wasn't that much on the roads but there was a good amount of snow and ice on the roadways. With careful driving, I was able to easily get around my hilly town with no problems at all.

I couldn't be happier with my truck, hope this helped.

Congratulations! You now own nine of the worst cars on the road!

April 27, 2011 · 19 comments
Forbes magazine did its annual “Worst Cars on the Road” review and you may be disturbed to learn that you own nine of the eleven on the list.
Don’t run out to the garage looking for them. You only own them because Barack Obama and Tim Geithner “invested”$80 billion of your tax dollars in General Motors and Chrysler.
Don't you find it somehow appropriate that a car named the Dodge Nitro is a bomb?

Here’s the bad news from Forbes:
… with three exceptions–the Mercedes-Benz S550, Smart Fortwo and Nissan Titan–all of the cars on this year’s list of the Worst Cars on the Road are (still) made by domestic companies. That includes the Dodge Dakota, Chevy Tahoe Hybrid and Chrysler Town & Country. The only American car company with zero vehicles on the list? Ford.
Ford? You mean the same Ford that declined your tax dollars? The same Ford that now has the largest share of the new car market? The same Ford that is reporting record profits?
Yes, that Ford.
Oh, by the way, just in case you were wondering, here’s the complete list of the Loser Eleven: Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid, Dodge Nitro, Jeep Wrangler, Dodge Dakota, Mercedes Benz S550, Chrysler Town and Country, Chevrolet Colorado, Chevrolet Aveo, Jeep Liberty and Nissan Titan.

I am well aware of how it works, my point was that it's dangerous to use on snow covered, crowned roads unless you know very well what you're doing.
