no , from what i read the tuners didn't mess with the stock knock sensor sensitivity ... only one company did and they only messed with it for a 2 week period and then quickly redid the tunes to return the settings back to stock

Off topic question here, but do Fords knock sensors still tell the engine to add timing until it sees knock. I had an 03 SVT Focus that I turboed and that's how I popped my first engine. I was data logging it, and it added 9° of timing at 6k rpm on 12psi and blew a hole in #2. After that we turned it off and I ran an aftermarket unit(which is what I should of had all along), and no problems until I spun a rod bearing...

But anyway, back to voided warranties.......still sucks, no bolt on part should void a warranty, the tunes I understand, but give us a little something to play with!

Yes, from what you read. I was personally told what they did. I work at a mustang shop and talk to tuners everyday.

I think it depends on the engine - the theory is that the Ecoboost (and most likely the Mustang version of the 5.0) are designed to run on premium fuel 'natively' so they try to advance the spark to run on premium, with the knock sensor retarding it if you put in 87 octane.

Anyway as for voided warranties - it's just Ford covering their butts. Play all you want with your trucks, just don't expect Ford to pick up the tab if you break them. Probably one of the downsides to having the Mustang engine in the F-150 lol - probably wouldn't be enough people modding them to the point of destruction if they were only in the F-150 for Ford to care about it.

Not kidding, definately made in China..... I had a 2011 Mustang GT, but got rid of it becuase the clutch had to be rplaced after 10,000miles. It was under warranty, but still had very rough shifting and missed gears......I've been driving manual trans all my life, never missed gears that much. Engine outstanding, manual trans...not so much.. POS... I had a 2008 that I traded on the 11, 38,000 on it when I traded it and I drove it like I stole it with not one issue......just saying....

No. There was a big debate about that and ford will not void warranty on a CAI but I am not definite on an exhaust.

i know from working at dodge dealers for the past 2 years that putting a CAI and exhaust on your car wont void the warrenty. if you put a cat back system on its not really gonna hurt anything

Reading that TSB is pretty daunting when you are thinking about putting a tuner on a new truck with 1500 miles on it.

I can completely understand Ford or any other manufacturer voiding or refusing to cover someones vehicle for damage caused by neglect, abuse or improper tuning.

However TSB 11-07-07 has language that indicates any evidence of the use of a tuner is to result in the cancellation of the warranty.

I don't think that it is reasonable for FOMOCO to void someones warranty unless the evidence of an improper tune causing a problem.

So I do believe that anyone that grenades a motor using a tuner or get caught using a tuner and loses their warranty would help the community by reporting the outcome.

And how much is that new crate motor going to cost me?
