honestly that is just a flat out bad idea, get a new truck or trade it in, you will save a toooooon of money that way.

At 103k miles I have turbos that sound like angry hamsters and I'm starting to get a gnarly engine sound, the type that requires a tear down. With as much as it will cost to tear down, repair, and buy new turbos I figure I might as well buy a fresh engine. That being said I'm not too interested in buying another Eco with my first experience being what it is.

I know this will cost money, but to replace the whole truck I'm going to have to ink a 20k check between negative equity and money down for a new one and even then I'll be in more debt than I am now. I love my truck and would rather just spend money making it into something I want.

Local dealers aren't interested. One even told me it is "impossible". So looking for a capable shop.

That would be one hell of a task! You would be changing out motor mounts, transmission, driveshaft, computer, and a new engine. Just get the ECO rebuilt....MUCH cheaper. Youre talking a 6 cyl vs. an 8. 2 totally different engines. For what you will spend, take the hit on the ECO and trade it in on the 6.2 you want.

sdhq went from a 6.2 to the ecoboost so I dont see why you cant go the other way with it.

Exactly. My 20k figure doesn't include being another 10k in debt. Motor mounts and labor to install them can't be THAT much.

Doesn't the 5.0, 6.2 and Eco all use the same 6spd transmission?

Maybe....but I thought the 3.7 and 5.0 were the same and the Eco was different....I could be wrong.
