ecoboost turbos ???
Will the bumper grille insert deter turbos from getting sufficient air intake...or how do they work exactly? I have a fx4 w the bumper grille insert and have noticed at times a slight miss throughout acceleration up to 65...could it be the turbos lagging some?

The bumper grille does not effect airflow to the motor what so ever. In extreme circumstances it my increase your air intake temperatures a few degrees due to less air flow across the intercooler. I said extreme circumstances though; driving across a 120 degree desert wide open extreme. Your not going to hurt anything! Enjoy that Eco-awesomeness...
On how it works...
You press gas pedal... Exhaust increases in volume passing through exhaust side of turbo spinning fins that are connected to other fins on the intake side of turbo forcing a higher volume of air into motor. Alot more goes into it but that's the crayon version.

would like to restate post...im not sure if it is a miss or not but it is very slight most may not even feel it...but as i accellerate up to speed approx, 60 mph you can feel a slight shudder , hitch , miss or whatever?? any chance it is the bumper grille?

any ideas what it could be ? like i say it is very minimal...could it be a normal thing? anyone else feel it ? it is just not a real smooth accerleration but barely noticeable.

well its not really that big a deal...the truck still gets up to speed fine...maybe its a normal thing or nothing at all...it will have to get worse for me to follow up on it...as i stated most people would prob not notice it at all.

Mine does the same thing. I think it is the transmission. I think many of us are experiencing the same thing. Mine has been shuddering more and more as I get more miles on it. I'm at 8500 miles right now.

I have around 1600 miles on my truck...I do not notice it all the time...I do notice it at times even on straight aways accelerating up to speed...I took the carriage works bumper grille off and have not noticed it yet...I will drive it a bit and keep monitoring...From the sound of things it should still do it w/o the grille...Kinda a catch 22, I hope I didnt waste money on grille but hope nothing is wrong w/ truck.

I do believe I know exactly what you are talking about. When I really get on it, it still accelerates very quickly but during that acceleration, it is not a constant and steady increase in speed/rpms.
To me it feels like a slight miss or studder that may last a fraction of a second or so. I may feel this a couple of times during a 5 second heavy pedal period.
Same?
