The ecoboost must be most of yours first turbo vehicle. My truck has had this "shudder" a couple of times while accelerating and letting off the gas slightly or applying slightly more throttle. I think it's more of a timing issue with gas pedal pressure and rpm in a given gear. I can make my truck do it fairly regularly. It was called turbo bark when I had a diesel so I'm fairly used to it. The ecoboosts bark, to me, is minor compared to my diesel so it's not a bother.

I must admit I have pretty much only had turboed vehicles so maybe this is why I have never noticed this issue in mine. Either that or the fact I live in Florida and it's nice and flat? I do run an AFE intake and maybe that helps my truck too? Maybe I'm lucky but I will go into ford to get the reflash soon.

These car drivers don't even realize what's happening, yet complain incessantly about it. Loading up these tiny turbos is instantaneous in a high gear under load, yet partial throttle, so It's spooling to full boost but commanding very little power so it has to open the gates to bleed it off. Super small turbos suffer the most from this dilemma but you can't tell these guys its actually their pedal modulation (or lack thereof) exacerbating the issue.

Default Shuddering

I have a hill on my way to work where I feel a slight shudder like some of the other oweners have felt. Right at the 55 to 60 mph in 6th gear, giving a little pressure on the gas. I have found if I use the +&- button and lock out 6th gear when this happens the shudder stops
So I also think its the trans trying to deside weather to down shift or not,
going hytec isnt always perficked.

I can get mine to do the puh-chew puh-chew shuddering thing on a particular grade every day of the week when I set the cruise control @ 45mph. It will also do it with manual pedal modulation but not as well. By the way, in West Michigan if the tech can't duplicate it then you don't have a problem.

It's driving me nuts as the truck tends to stall somewhat when this happens. My dealer told me it's "normal" but I would have to disagree. Any others having the same problem?

I have this same problem you have. Mine aslo dumps boost during shift points sometimes. I took mine in and had a reflash and was told everything works right and I still have the puh-chew prob in 6th. I ordered a new turbo solenoid soon as i get it ill post up result. I read a while back someone had this problem and had there solenoid replace and it fixed it. Dunno its worth a try.

It is supposed to do this. Mine spikes up to 15-16 psi, then holds @ 12 psi and drops to 10 psi just before it upshifts. Then it repeats in the next gear.

I Agree

mine only does it when shifting to 3rd and from 3rd to 4th and only if theres some extraboost. if I drive like a granny it dosn't happen.
