Default Ecoboost exhaust

Debating about putting a full cat back on, What if I just changed out the muffler? YouTube is show gains in hp and torque on 3" exhausts, so if I just change out the muffler to something more high flow, would I get the gains of a full cat back?

There is not a muffler on the planet that flows better than the stocker with the same pipe size The stock muffler is a straight through design with no baffles or packing of any kind. If all you want is noise then swap it out but you will not gain any performance with just a muffle change

Bubbabud speaks the truth. Muffler replacement is for sound only.

Ill tell you how it'll go. It will sound like a cross between a lawn mower and a diesel truck. You'll feel a rad more low end despite the bigger isn't better line of thought. With the bigger turbos you guys are using maybe it will do something different.

Ya, we'll see what it does on the top end with more cfm flowing through the exhaust.

Only one I've heard that sounds decent is the Flo-Pro 4" catback with the Twister resonator. Still not as deep as a diesel, but doesn't get too out of control in the upper RPM range either.

Apples to oranges The OP was asking about changing just the muffler on an otherwise stock truck.

I replaced my muffler and resonator with 3 inch pipe. So my "cat back" is straight 3 inch pipe all the way. I like the way sounds. I just wanna add a 6 inch tip and weld it on there, to try to deepin the sound a lil bit.

6" tip? Don't do that unless you're a redneck or drive an 18 sec civic.
