Default Ecoboost engine misfire (spark plug) TSB

I just got my spark plugs replaced and left the dealer with a major misfire. It was worse with the new plugs than when I initially took the truck in. Turns out there is a TSB which replaces the spark plug boots. The TSB number is 14-0180 and it would apply to vehicles built before 6-15-13. Note, this TSB calls for only the coil boots and plugs to be changed. NOT THE COILS! Some dealers have been stabbing in 6 new coils which will price out in the $700 range! Please notice that this is covered under the emissions warranty, so you can be out of powertrain warranty and still get the repair free of charge.

Engine Misfire Symptoms Accompanied by Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305 and/or P0306 – 2011-2013 Ford F-150

Heres a question I got for all you guys. I had the misfire happen to me and it went in for the service and the service tech told me the plugs should all be replaced (except cylinder 3 as it was replaced about a year ago for the shudder) as they have carbon on them and the Gapping was 45-60. I had cylinder 3 plug done for free threw the warranty (at 45,000) and today charged me for the remaining five. Best part is my warranty status hasn't changed. originally they told me that 50,000 was premature to replace them. I want to know why I was charged as I fall under this tsb and I got the one under the power train warranty

No idea why you were charged. You will have to take it up with the service manager.

For 30$ and about an hour of your time you can do it yourself. Plugs should be changed often in the ecoboost. 25-50k miles and gapped at .030

Also if you haven't already done it, drill the weep hole in your intercooler. It will help with the shudder issue.

I originally was going to do it myself as they are easy except I am in a pinch right now but that's not the point. I am waiting to hear what BS FORD tells me today but since this is and ERRor on there part they should cover it. I mean that's like me going to a customers home in my job and installing a defective part, I'd either have to fix it on my expense or get sued

Stutter is from condensate blowing out spark plugs. Drill weep hole, swap in 6 new properly gapped plugs and you should be fine for 30k miles

What happens at 30k? Drill another hole and install 6 more plugs?

Nope - install new spark plugs. Safety first. The weep hole prolongs the plug life and prevents stuttering.
