You said that throttle open, injectors off will kill the cat converter. I pointed out 10 million examples where it does not, thus disproving your theory. DBW programming does not prove or disprove either side. Try and focus.

This is still factually incorrect.

I still believe if I'd tuned mine the day I bought it BEFORE I ever had an issue, I'd still have it and would probably be very happy with it. I don't know that for sure, but all the hiccups mine had, especially when towing, did a lot of internal damage to the engine
I think they know how to fix it properly, but have elected to find the best bandaid approach for the majority of the owners. I think there are several better options than currently provided by Ford: 1) use of a storage and slow injection system per GM/Ford/AUDI patents or 2) drill a hole. The first is probably not implemented due to cost, and the second is probably not implemented due to emissions concerns (in fact, GMs patent alludes to this in the front matter).

It sounds like you bore the brunt of a such a decision making process, which is a real bummer.

I should point out that there is another person that advocates a slightly different method of water buildup that doesn't correspond to Fords filing with NHTSA's (condensing the on the fins and staying there vs. pooling). Supposedly he has this confirmed, third hand by and engineer at Ford, but he really hasn't been able to substantiate is claim to me or others (though he's written several descriptions of condensation without getting to the meat of the issue). If such a mechanism is at play we would get two rather disappointing results: the hole would not alleviate all symptoms, and Ford lied or mislead the NHTSA.

Well, three very successful mechanics that I have known for 20 years all agreed that the re-gapping to factory specs that it wasn't built by was the proper fix. Even with a COP test after the fact. So, what IS the proper fix? My ride has been perfect since this adjustment was made.

Spark plugs have been closed up by mechanics for LPG and CNG fueled equipment for over 50 years. It works. It was originally done to get 6 volt equipment to start easier on LPG and to have it run and be adjustable for emissions. Even back then CO was monitored and adjusted out as well as possible for the times. It's Out of context, was a dry gas fuel but just for comparison reasons for closing up the gap. I suspect some of the reason it works with EB's is how the fuel is injected with such a lean burn at times. We know there are several DI injection sequence types depending on how the ECU/PCM recognizes the engines torque needs. But that's the tricky part engineers know about I think.

Do you get water in the catch can? If you do, how much?
