MAK I just hear they should be a last resort for final power figures as they do not add substantial power and some kits add some tin type sounds to the exhaust Unlike on my GTI adding a 3" dp was like getting chipped all over again. And then the whole cat ordeal.

In regards to power we picked up 2mph and 2 tenths in the 1/4 mile, and we have various customers stating the same gains. We have had third party dealers dyno test our y-pipe and pick up 20hp. Thats a decent gain to the wheels. For those that know about drag racing 2tenth and 2mph means alot more than 20hp in comparison. Spool time is decreased also. If you read in this thread and other related to our y-pipe various customers have expressed their content with our product.

The issue with the sounds are usually more related to installation than anything else. Sometimes people leave the heat shields too close and they rattle. We have installed a ton of them without any issues and other shops around the country that we sell too have reported that they have no issues.

I would do it. It sounds good, shaves 2 tenths, and the exhaust flumes arent nearly as bad as you would think (at least to me). My gt500 with a o/r x pipe would choke you. I was on the fence between MAK and Livernois, but went with Livernois because I was already buying a tune from them and the pipes were 304 ss. Yes, my pipes were not perfectly round on one side of the y pipe, but a little modifying with a grinder and I got them to fit. My cricket sound from an exhaust leak at the turbo flange is gone now or i just cant hear it anymore. Guess it was so small that the carbon build up stopped the leak. As far as MAK, a lot of people have their y pipe and I havent heard anything bad at all about their product.

I find it hard to believe that the downpipes would not make power, I come from several turbo vehicles (heavily modded) and you have always made power with DP especially catless ones. On the VWs i have, doing a 3" downpipe was like getting chipped all over again. So please do not take it in a bash.
Audi TT Roadster 35R (built from oil pan to valve cover, transmission to rear end)
MKIV VW GTI swapped into an VW R32 chassis now an R18 track car (runs on corn and caged)
6.0 F250 with a 72MM charger (60 psi and diesel)
Everyone of those as you can see have been modded. Thanks for clarifying the reasoning behind the tin sound, no one has ever mentioned that it could be a heatshield issue.
I like the fact of downpipes for the lack of cats which = less back pressure (quicker spool) and lower EGTs, especially when towing, which are a killer in the diesel world.

dont take that as a bash, my apologies if it came across that way, i have read on here though that they didn't do much and just like in the threads with the intakes sometimes people say they have something just bc they spent money on it...

I know I'm resurrecting this thread, but is anyone making MIL eliminators for ecoboost trucks or ones that will fit?? It would make my life a lot easier with inspection. I'll search and couldn't find anything.
