Default Cylinder 3 misfire

This past weekend my 2011 ecoboost had a major hiccup. I was accelerating at about half throttle when it shifted into 6th gear it started shuddering extremely bad and I lost all power. Check engine light started flashing. Long story short. It's memorial weekend so needed to get this figured out myself. I'm tuned, running the lms 87 tow tune. (I always run the tow tune in the summer as I tow once or twice a week and I hate having to keep switching it) So I hook up the programer and get P0303. (cylinder 3 misfire) I did limp the truck about 3 miles to my parents house so I had access to tools. I went and picked up a new plug and coil. Put in the new coil and bingo problem solved. I think it was actually just the spring in the boot.

Now my question, where does the unburned fuel go for that cylinder? Do I need to change the oil right away? I only drove it about 3 miles, but I could definitely smell gas. I'm just unsure if it gets blown out the exhaust or where it goes.

Out through the exhaust. You should be fine.

It went through the cats which is why you see so many ecoboosts with failed cats and o2 sensors. To help prevent misfires like this going forward, make sure you change spark plugs every 30k and use .030 gap. Also, drill the weep hole in the intercooler

Yeah I just replaced the plugs 3 months ago. I used 0.30 gap. This was a coil problem. I ended up changing the oil in it anyways and there was a strong gas odor in the oil.

You have other issues since you have the fuel in oil issues that plague the ecoboost. Google ecoboost fuel in oil and you will find how to resolve.

More than likely HPFP.
