Check Engine LIght On
I've got a 3.5l ecoboost with a little over 2000 miles on it. Today while on the highway the check engine light came on. My wifes father has an OBD thing and we checked for codes and got P144c. Being that the truck is new, his obd meter didn't have the meaning of the code stored in it. Any idea what code P144c is. The truck didn't drive or perform any different from what I could tell.
Thanks in advance.

Evaporative Emission System Purge Check Valve Performance
Description: The powertrain control module (PCM) tests the EVAP check valve for a stuck open condition. The EVAP check valve test is performed during minimal boost conditions, once per drive cycle, when entry conditions are met. This DTC sets if the fuel tank pressure exceeds a calibrated amount within a specified amount of time during the test.
Possible Causes:
Stuck open EVAP check valve
Stuck closed EVAP check valve
Damaged EVAP check valve
Damaged EVAP ejector
You're gonna want to go to the dealer.

Eco-5.0-Eco again
After you shut the truck off for a while...did the light come back on? It's not uncommon for the evap system to malfunction for a second and throw a code. The CEL should not be lit after you restart the engine if it was a fluke...

I tried turning it off a for a few minutes, but when I start it back up it's still on.

You could unhook the battery for 15 minutes to clear it out then see if it comes back before taking it in. Most of the EVAP codes that are random are fuel tank pressure codes and leak codes. I've never even heard of this code, I had to look it up in the service manual so I figure it's not very common or I'd see it at work.

even the oldest OBD scanners have a provision to clear codes. clear it and see if it reoccurs Bubbabud 2011 XLT SC ecoboost.

I would not clear the code. Let the dealer do it. It's under warranty. If he sees no code, it didn't happen. Get it logged in their system for future reference at least.

True but if there is a recurring problem the light will come back on and if there isn't then problem solved you just forget about it. Just make sure the light is on when you go to the dealer.
