Default brand new 5.0 engine failure

Purchased 2018 Platinum F150 with 5.0, with less than 800 miles and only one week in my possession it quit while sitting in the parking lot while at idle. They initially thought the starter was bad then realized the starter went bad trying to turn over a seized engine. After they took the engine out they found it had dropped a valve into the cylinder, basically destroying the engine. It's been over two weeks now, Ford wants me to allow them to replace the engine. Needless to say, I'm not happy with my Purchase decision, and Ford acts like I should be fine with their decision and all I can see is the depreciation of an brand new $65,000 truck with a car fax that shows catastrophic failure with less than a thousand miles. . . . Has anyone else heard of issues with the Ford 5.0? Thanks for your insight.

its a complex mechanical machine. Things go wrong sometimes. Fords going to replace the engine. Do it and move along.

Yes, it happens. I once had a brand new head from Ford installed by the dealer on a 1996 4.0 Explorer at the dealer, to replace the original that cracked at 70k miles. Then a few days later it sucked a valve (very noisy result) fortunately a few doors from home. They ended up replacing the whole engine on Ford.

I wouldn't, and most people wouldn't, think twice about an engine that was replaced under warranty by Ford. If it was you replacing it, I would have to see your mechanical skills, but I would purchase a manufacturer warranty replaced engine vehicle in a heart beat.

Too bad it didn't happen at 58,000 miles
