Best Oil/Filter Combo for the Eco
For ya'll that change your own oil:
> What oil do you use?
> What filter do you use? (please include number)
> And any other issues or statements.
Thanks for your time and input.
I usually use Castrol Edge on all of my other vehicles.
I do not know anything a turbo engines.
Any insight would be welcomed.

I am sure I will think of other questions. The reason for changing my own oil is because I am a little OCD. I like it to be done correctly and know that I did it correctly. Kinda take pride in my oil changes :/ ... pretty sad ... I know.

Since you're asking for free advise, I would say do it every 5k miles are less. I would be more afraid of contaminating the oil with a DI turbo motor than who made the oil. Motorcraft 5w-30 and Motorcraft filters every 5k would make me sleep better. I would NOT try and extend the drain interval and I would NOT use Ford's 7.5k dashboard program for this engine.

Change it every 5,000 miles.
Use Mobil 1 Extended Performance or another full synthetic oil that is Honda HTO-6 compliant.
Napa gold oil filter (Which is re badged Wix filter).

I take a case of Mobil One 20W-30 to the dealer with me. The first time I did it, the tech informed me I only had 6 qts and the Eco takes 8. I smiled and told him I would top it off when I got home if needed. He came back a while later to tell me it only took 6 qts. Would you want those folks replacing your engine? Just keep a record. When I do it myself, I update Owner.Ford.com, same as the dealer does so I have a record.
