Anyone have problems yet with 5.0 or Ecoboost

I get the ticking too, but have not brought it in. Is this damaging to the engine? Part of my hesitation of bringing it in is trying to get them to replicate the problem. Not sure printing off how Firebird got his resolved would do the trick.

Only thing I can say is...in my case it sounded very similar to a lifter tick, only the sound was originating from underneath the truck instead of on top of the engine.
Also, mine was very easily duplicatable. It did it every single time...BUT, it had to be under a very specific set of circumstances to do it: engine normal operating temp, then shut off. Then had to wait for 5-10 minutes-about the time it takes to fuel the vechicle, then restart. Upon restart is when it would make a loud ticking noise for about 2-3 seconds, then go away completely until the process was repeated.
As far as whether it is damaging....probably to some degree, but nothing bad. In essence, the timing chain had too much slop and was smacking something-probably the timing chain cover-until the oil pressure built up enough to take up the slack. Oddly enough you would think it would rattle rather than 'tick', but it had a definate rythm to it.
During the repair process, the service advisor did tell me that the ford engineers, whom the mechanic had to consult, had seen a few tensioner failures and that was their first-and correct- course of action to take was to replace it.
However, I have no seen any other cases on the net.
I hope this helps, and you get your issue resolved.

Tonight my truck did the ticking. I shut it off to hook up a small trailer, then started it back up, lots of ticking in pace with engine speed. I have never heard it do this, but it only has 1600 miles on it. It sounds identical to a lifter tick, but like the other postings said, it comes from low down in the front. I revved the engine slightly and the ticking increased also. I shut it off for a few minutes then restarted and the problem was gone. I suppose Ill take it in along with the other squealing problems, and a broken AC belt! Sweet, this thing better not be the lemon.

A little over a month ago I had the check engine light come on, I brought it to the dealer and they changed an O2 sensor. Light came back on so I brought it back and they ended up changing three injector's. All was good untill the next day when the check engine light came back on, brought it back and they ended up changing another injector. All 4 on the passenger side of the engine have been changed. Truck running fine and check engine light has stayed off for about a week. All I need to do now is get the tranny re-flashed so I can get rid of the annoying lag off the line problem. This truck has been in the shop as much as my last three Ford's combined, best vehicle I ever owned was a 2000 Super Duty with the 5.4 that had zero problem's in almost 4 year's. My 2004 Lariat had the rear end replaced at 11k miles due to faulty gear's and two window regulator's replaced, this was in 7 year's of use. My 1997 Lariat had a minor 3rd door adjustment for an air leak and the only problem in 3 year's. I'll keep you guy's updated on my 2011, I love the truck but not happy with the drivetrain so far.

I sometimes get a harsh 5-4 downshift. Dealer verified (was able to replicate) but said it was likely program and I currently had the latest. It is not always and not often, seems to come in spurts. I plan to simply drive it, get more miles on it (currently 3500) and see if it simply corrects itself? If not, sure there will be some program update at some point. Other than the aformentioned, no issues and love this truck - most fun I have had driving in I can't remember when.

I was the lucky one to have the fuel Preasure issues with the EB. Happy to report it has been resolved. The issue was a crack in the fuel pump assembly. Sounds like over torqued causing crack. No other issues and now have 1200 miles.
