Well I towed roughly 7k pounds in a 30ft enclosed trailer with a 20-25mph tail wind and returned 20 mpg but when I towed against the wind I returned 9mpg! I have a 5.0

My Jeep got 9mpg driving around town. That is why I traded it in on my Ford. Monday I'll be towing my camper for the first time. I hope I get better mileage than 9mpg!

PS: Good thread!

well no wonder why everyone talks about the ecoboost... You ask a simple question about the 5.0 and 6.2 and you get two replies.

Back to the ecoboost talk.

I just towed a 1996 Saturn SL1 (2400# plus trailer) about 25 miles hwy at 65mph and 10 miles secondary roads at 55 mph. Reset the trip computers just before I started out and got 16.5 mpg.

3300# trailer - two lane at 65 mph - 15.6 mpg.

Not bad - my 2003 5.4 got about 11 doing the same thing.

When towing, weight, wind and the shape of what's being towed are more impact full than the engine. As you can see, lighter loads 3-5k in open trailers don't hit mpg as hard... 6.2, 5.0 or 3.5tt.

Op you have an Eco, so why the question, do you want to trade or just asking theoretical
