5.0L or eco boost and why???
New here. I've had numerous f-150's with the 5.4L but now looking to get a 12-14' model supercrew. I won't be doing heavy towing so which motor seems to be the best to go with? Would still like to get the better mpg but want what's most reliable. I'm open to all opinions !

This topic always generates a lot of different opinions. I went ecoboost. Mainly because after driving one I liked the throttle response and how the turbos boosted the motor. I wanted better fuel mileage but that didn't come with the truck. I do miss the rumble of a v8 from time to time.

I have a 2014 with 47000 miles now, this truck runs and drives 100% perfect. I'm really happy that I went the ecoboost route. If I was you I would go drive both then go with your gut feeling of which will be better for you. I honestly think they are both great motors so get which ever makes you smile more.

I'd go eco if you are looking for performance, towing, and a more powerful feeling truck. 5.0 for mileage and if you don't tow much. That's not saying the 5.0 can't tow, but if towing heavy the eco offered a better towing experience. Depending on the roads you drive, I really believe the 5.0 gets better mileage... especially if you run a lot of highway at 70+ mph.
Reliability is in the eye of the beholder. Seems most people don't own a vehicle to 100k anymore. Either one will get that many miles with minimal issues. I'm at 167k and looking to go to 300k...surpassing 200k in my eyes is reliability. Most people never get there. If you don't keep vehicles long term I feel the reliability factor is a mute point
