Default 5.0 MPG upgrades?

I'm curious if there are some good documented upgrades to the 5.0 that deliver some decent milage benefits?

Intake, exhaust, chip?

agreed - I would also remove anything from the truck that you don't need, check to make sure your tires are properly inflated. I will typically set the cruise control at 5mph lower than the speed limit and cruise in the right lane.

Started doing this about 2 years ago (unless it is a long trip). Helped the mileage a lot. It helped my blood pressure more. Nice relaxing drive is better than being pissed at the other drivers.

Really - the best way is driving habits.

I have a tuner and it didn't change the mileage at all. It totally changed the way the truck drives for the absolute better - but the best way to save is keep your foot off the pedal.

I agree with everyone else here, driving habits are going to be the only major player in your fuel economy.

I agree with the slowing down part. In my over 40 yrs in the shipping and trucking business I find most professional trucker's to save fuel and get there in a timely manner run 3 to 5mph less then the posted limit's under ideal condition's .This minimizes passing, promotes safer driving and saves fuel as a bonus. If you're worried about being late, leave earlier!

I'm a trucker and I go by what one trucking manual said, "Drive at the slowest speed that would get you to your destination on time." I was driving in NY today at 57 MPH in my big semi and people were flying by on I-90. I came to the border and .. my paperwork was not ready! Spent 1.5 hours at Customs! Have I driven like everybody else (65-70 MPH), I'd've wasted a ton of fuel with no benefit!
