5.0 engine article.

Retired and loving it!
Hmmmmmmmmmm....the ratings for this engine in this article are not the same as the 5.0 they rate in the F150....a bit more torque and HP in the Mustang?
Is this engine identical in all tuning aspects in the Mustang Gt and in the F150? It might appear that they want to rate it higher in the 'Stang....??

-Different pistons for lower compression
-different tune, different intake cam timing
-different exhaust setups
Other than that, its all the same. The exact same motor in a truck may dyno lower at the rear wheels anyway due to the drive train loss and the bigger rear end.

The only differences major between the car and truck motor that I know of are:
-Different pistons for lower compression
-different tune, different intake cam timing
-different exhaust setups

Pretty sure there's additional piston cooling in the F-150 version as well as a different oil sump and an additional oil cooler. At least that's what I thought saw on:

That should make for a great future for this engine. The engine was built solid enough for Turbos or supercharging. So we can only hope some of this makes it way into the F150. I would like to see 5 liters, 500hp and 500lb ft torque.

They will probably EcoBoost it, if anything. Ford will be offering EcoBoost options in 90+% of all products they sell, even other brand names, like Volvo, very soon. There is a wholesale sea-change going on here, folks. There are governmental reasons, like EPA, behind it, but at this point, it seems all for the better, if you like more power and diesel-like torque, even from the 3.5
