5.0 and 3.5 EB MPG's (XLT Supercrew 4x2 3.73 and 3.55 145'' Wheel Base)
I am looking at getting a 5.0 4x2 Supercrew 3.73 rear end 145'' wheel base F150. I am looking to hear from those that have this EXACT truck to see what miles per gallon you are getting.
I am also considering getting 3.5 EB 4x2 Supercrew 3.55 rear end 145'' F150. I am looking to hear from those that have this EXACT truck to see what miles per gallon you are getting.
We all know different F150's will get different gas mileage. So I'd like to know about these trucks and these trucks only. Lots of other threads with different truck MPG’s however please only post if you have these trucks with these set ups only.
Both will tow the same and MPG is important to me so I would like to hear from those with real world MPG's to help me make a choice. Please post which you have and your MPG's.
Thank you very much to those with these trucks that post #'s for me.
Cheers!

I just purchased the 3.5L EB XLT supercrew with the 3.55 gears. I personally gotten 22 mpg's on hwy. I had cruise set on 65 for 100 miles. Now piddling around town is a touch different. I got anywhere from 16-18 around town depending on how you drive it. The EB has plenty of horsepower and torque so you'll want to feel it go when you get behind the wheel.
I give it a 9 on a scale of 10. I LOVE this truck! It is so smooth and quiet of road noise. You can hear the turbos whistle and feel the torque set you back in the seat. It sounds like a car starting up, but runs like a champ!

You would have to have quite a few responses to get any kind of accurate information. There is a lot of factors you have to take into account.
I will try and help you out even though I have the 3.55 gears in my 4x4 5.0 screw. I average 18mpg in 50/50 city/highway. At 60mph I get 21mpg. At 65 I get 19-20.
If you are really concerned about MPG and willing to drive easy there is no reason the Ecoboost shouldn't do better than the 5.0. If you are heavy footed then I believe they start to equalize. In my 2003 Supercharged Cobra I can get good mileage, but if I even get into boost a little bit it sucks down the gas like crazy.

Good question. Because I want a truck that can tow more than 8000 pounds.
The 5.0 with the 3.73 gets me to 9400 pounds. The 3.5 EB with 3.55 gets me to 9800 pounds.
I don't need to tow 11300 pounds. So I am trying to decide which way would be better with MPG's in mind and it seems the 3.5 EB. Because I get the motor with better MPG's and the rear end with better MPG's and tow slightly more than the 5.0 with 3.55.
Hearing back from those with these set ups and real world miles will help me in making a choice.
Thank you for your feedback so far.

Thank you for your input. But I am not considering the 5.0 with 3.55 only the 5.0 with 3.73 because I want to tow more than 8000 lbs.
I've driven both and like many I like the sound of the 5.0 better, has plenty of pick up and go. The 3.5 EB is quiet for a full size truck but that could take some getting use to. The turbo's concern me. If one of those was to go out outside of warranty I can imagine it would be very expensive.

Just asking.... Would running premium fuel vs regular in an ecoboost make consumption go down? The manual states that using premium during hot weather towing is good; how about just normal driving? Premium fuel may allow more spark advance or boost to help with mpg's. Just wondering out loud.......
