The base 3.7L V6 is at no extra cost. The 5.0l V8 cost $1000 more then the 3.7L. The EB cost $750 more then the 5.0L and $1750 more then the 3.7L. At least in the US. So BlackXTR was refering to the difference in cost from the 5.0 to the EB if I am not mistaken.
Since I drive both, my company gave us 5.0s and I bought my EB shortly after. IMO is would be best to put that money towards luxury items. If you are more concerned about performance then buying the engine upgrade would be more cost effective. $1000 worth of perfomance mods on the 3.7L would not get you the same performance as the 5.0, and the same is true for the $750-$1000 from 5.0 to the EB. The mods may get you more HP then the EB, but low end torque would not be acheivable with that amount of money. Case in point is the Hemi vs the EB. The 5.7 Hemi has 25 more HP then the EB, but the EB still leaves it in the dust in a race and tows a lot better. So it is all about what your needs or wants are. BTW, my company in theory used the $750 they saved to buy us new I-phones and a GPS system for the trucks.
