Default 2014 - Eco - wrench on dash and limp mode.

I just bought a 2014 Fx4 eco 3 weeks ago and have put around 800 miles on it (19k total). This past weekend I drove it to a friend house and parked it outside for a few hours (20* temp). I then had to run home and had driven it for a few mile, turned on to a main road and moderately accelerated to 55 mph when a wrench was displayed on the screen and I lost all power. The engine was running rough and I could not accelerate. I had to pull over, turn off the truck, and restart it and it ran just fine.

I am wondering if any codes were thrown, will they be cleared automatically if I can't get into the dealer until next week?

Based on previous searches I am thinking maybe a TB issue? The wrench is no longer displayed.

Simply go to most auto parts stores and borrow their code reader for free and then you'll know. A wrench should have thrown codes, as to whether they are still there you won't know till you look.

Has it been rainy out? Have you drilled the weep hole in the intercooler?

If you look in the manual, the Wrench light is not a code and probably did not throw one. The wrench light means that communication between your gas pedal and throttle body was lost. There is no throttle cable on these trucks. Everything is electronic so if the transmission is somehow interrupted (it can happen sometimes, rarely), it will throw the wrench light.

9 times out of 10, doing what you did and turning it off and back on will reset it and reboot it and you will be fine. If it persists, then take it somewhere.

No, I am in MN and it had been below freezing for a number of days. I have not made any mods to the truck, so I am pretty sure it's not drilled out. I have full warranty until this fall, so I don't want to affect that.

I have an appt for next Tuesday with the dealer for this issue and to get the brake cylinder recall completed.

Is it a humid winter? Drill the hole. It wont effect your warranty.

I would not consider it humid. It was probably 19* and 40% humidity.

I would still drill the hole. Condensation will build up over time and this could be the cause if your issue. Its free to do and cures the issue with condensation buildup.
