please know I'm not arguing just making a point that some people may be confusing the issues.
I'd be willing to bet it's the DEALERS and MECHANICS who are confusing the issue moreso than truck owners. They assume the vacuum pump first because it's the lesser of the two evils and this is a straight up embarrassing problem for Ford.

If I was buying a F-150 off your dealership and I brought up all these videos what would you say to me?

Keep in mind one video is shot right over top of pump other is standing back from truck.
If you watch the whole video you'll see where I start the truck with the camera in the wheelwell and my hand on the vacuum pump to make sure it's not making noise or chattering. They are completely different noises.

Ford wouldn't be denying repairs if the Vacuum Pump was our issue.

Just for you here is a video with my GoPro right down in the front of the engine bay right up against the timing chain cover.

Let us know what you find out on Tuesday, tterb0331. Once you get a diagnosis from the dealership, I'll be able to research some ways to step in and help.

I should be hearing back soon on their new hunch being the VVT module. Who knows maybe that's it? I wish this site was a part of Tapatalk yo see when someone else has replied. I'll keep you all informed of what they say. Hoping maybe to get it back and something on paper saying driving it will not be doing any damage and that once the fix is found that even that I'm over warranty something will be done to make this right without me having to hoof the bill.

It would be great to rule it out or confirm it. Even then if they replace that part my issue is with the obvious excess wear the top end (or bottom end) of the engine is experiencing.

If your truck makes that rattle let's say 60 times in a year (mine will easily do that) for an average of 1-2 seconds each time. This is essentially "minutes" of runtime with the noise occurring. It only takes seconds without lubrication to moving metal parts to sometimes cause irreparable damage to an engine.

I can 100% rule out and confirm that it is not the VVT or anything related to it.

Hey guys, have a 2013 Limited with only 13k miles been making the same noise as most of you for the past month on cold starts in the morning, here is some videos from the past two days.

Kinda getting ticked off as this truck lost the transmission a few thousand miles ago and had to be rebuilt and then 2 days after getting out of the shop the trans started to over heat. Also had the tsb done for the raw fuel in the oil which i dont think fixed anything because the oil still stinks.

Before i had this truck i had a Ecoboost Lariat that had the shudder problem from the condensation in the intercooler. Am i that unlucky to have 2 problematic trucks in a row? Or is Ford quality really that bad?

Sorry for ranting but as of right now im lost on what to do, take the truck in for service now or wait for it to get worse and throw a code?

Open your hood and then take the video infront or at the top of the motor, that almost sounds to high pitched more like the Vac pump.
Need better video.

Your noise sounds a little bit different than the noise in my videos. Yours sounds more like an air pump noise but that could be because you are so far away from the truck.
