2011 ecoboost noise on start up

You should go to a dealer and get a quote to order the chains yourself. Just to see what they say. My dealer, in Ontario , has done two Eco timing chains this week. I do believe your dealer is bull****ting you.
I'm in the process of buying a travel trailer and not having a tow vehicle is a bit of a damper at the moment. My only solace is how embarrassing this must be for Ford to see all of us relaying our experiences with dealers as truck after truck after truck after truck rolls in with this problem.

Just went by the dealer to see my truck while opened up. Mechanic told me he had the chain off by a tooth, that's why it was shaking at idle. Then he said that he was replacing the tensioner. According to the work order, a tensioner was ordered and installed during the primary chain replacement. He also told me that it was normal for these engines to rattle at cold startup. Please, don't try to BS me. I asked why it didn't do it for the first 80,000 Kms. Couldn't answer that one. Then I looked around at my truck, which is being used as a workbench right now. My fenders are all scratched up, and I requested, when I dropped it off, that fender covers be used. Not extremely happy right now. I wasn't there. However, if what you are saying is accurate you should be writing the Dealership a letter. I am going to give you a little help: Dear _________, Service Manager: Today I stopped by to check on the progress to repairing my (insert specific vehicle). (Insert name) said that this noise (best description) is normal at start up. I am not sure i agree that this is normal and my truck didn't do that when I purchased it. (add whatever else you feel in pertinent) When I talked to the mechanic (name), I noticed there were tools everywhere and that the fenders were not protected. There were numerous scratches that were not there prior to bringing the truck to you. Please arrange when the mechanical repairs are complete to also repair the damage to the paint caused by the shop. I consider those repairs to be caused by negligence and ask that you arrange to have a rental vehicle supplied at your expense. Sincerely, your name CC: Ford Motor Company (and there address) This will do you a lot more good than complaining here.

First thing, thank you for the letter template. However before I left the dealership, I had a chat with the SM. He is aware that I know engines fairly well and won't be bull****ted, also he is now aware of the scratches. He offered to buff them out. I am in a rental covered by my ESP. I will not return it until I stop by the dealership once repairs are complete and I have inspected the paint. If it's not up to par, and i'm picky, they will either have to cover a detailers exterior polish or try again themselves. I will return the rental once all is sorted out.
When the oil change was done I was asked for documentation. I forgot what it is called, but I would know it if I heard it. Life has taught me that putting things in writing is often easier.

Take a loss if need be but IMO I would sell the pos asap and get another truck like me and so many others have finally had to do. I'm happy now driving my 14 5.0 fx4 knowing I'm forsurly going to see 300000km one day without major motor problems unlike my old Eco. Just couldn't waste more of my time getting nowhere and knowing its all just going to be worse down the road so I traded it in. Good luck you guys and girls I know what your dealing with. Ttys

Ya, the whole process was going well, right up to that point. How does someone bull**** another like that. My business would die if I tried something like that. That and my fenders being all ef'd up has left a bad taste in my mouth.

They are supposed to fix:
- timing chain TSB
- CAC TSB
- repair the turbo bark/howl my truck makes
We'll see how this works out...

CAC...hmmm, been down that road, this is the second time. I have slight noise on start up too, but screw it. Its about to get ugly with me and ford. They wont buy their lemon back. Im about to bring it to them suing for loss of wages, loss of use, time, anything i can. They sold defective trucks and have not honored their warranty. They replace parts with inferior parts that fail within a short period of time. FoMoCo is a F*cking JOKE!

Well, my truck is supposed to go the dealer anyday. They are getting a designated driver service to pick it up and take it to them. I explained the check engine light was on and they want to drive it anyways. This is a good start even if he just tosses it around on his desk for a week or so with all the other complaints and phone calls. Usually this is a disease for a given dealership with out any end to it.
U probably need another motor to solve it. U have a lack of oil quantity of flow problem that will simply get worse and worser.
