Default Two Questions - Undercover Elite LX

I'm looking to buy this cover in Agate Black for my 2022 and have two questions:

1. How durable is the paint? I haven't seen much mentioned in online reviews, but one review had photos of the cover which was scratched by a cat. Should I be looking at the non-painted version instead? I wouldn't load anything on top of the cover.

2. How big a gap is the overhang along the sides of the truck? I've read some reviews that said the gap is much wider than they expected. I assume it's pretty tight along the tailgate and hope it's minimal along the sides.

If someone has photos of this model on their truck, unpainted or in Agate Black, I'd appreciate seeing how it looks. It will help me tons.

Thanks.

I had a undercover in black (nonpainted) the gaps along the side and back were about 1/4 inch or so. I thought it was perfect, it lines it self up from the inside thereby avoiding touching the outside paint.
Absolutely weatherproof and very strong and secure too. I had other people tell me there roll up and hard folding covers leaked. I did have a soft folding cover at one point that was weatherproof although
flopped around some at highway speeds and of course security was zero except for (out of sight, out of mind) attributes.

Tim, thanks for sharing your experience. Sounds like the gap will not be an issue. Why did you decide to go with the unpainted version?

I would not let it deter you that a cat scratched it. We have strays near us, they can scratch cars when they sit on the roof to sun themselves by walking back and fourth across the hood to get there. If they lose traction for a second and the claws come out you’re getting scratches.

I have the Bakflip MX4 and it leaks. The head bed rail seal leaves much to be desired. Keeping water out is a primary reason for why I’m looking into the Undercover.

The exact reason I ditched the Bak and went to the Undercover.

I installed the Elite LX. It looks great, but the install required more adjustments than I expected.

I have a concern. The seals at the corners by the cab have gaps and they allow light in, which means water will come through. The flap that is suppose to face downward over the head rail is turned upward, forming a v with the cover. It came out of the box like this and I’m concerned that it will not relax enough to function properly.

I called Undercover customer service for help but the hold was long and did not connect. Anyone have advice?

Thanks:
