Default Tuner vs Longevity/Reliability

I have 2013 5.0 4x4 (3.55 gears with 33 KO2 tires) with 90k miles that is my daily driver. I am considering putting a tuner (SCT with 3 custom 5* tunes). My only concern is this causing something to go wrong with the motor/transmission.
I will admit i am new to tuners but ive heard that this could be an issue. Is this a legitimate concern? My truck has been flawless for 90k miles and would like to get another 90k out of it. I know a stock truck can break at any time (and I'll be out of warranty soon) but I don't want to increase those chances.
I drive 70 miles a day so a few mpg would be nice along with more low end power when i pull my 4k boat pretty much every other weekend.

I run on five star tune on my 16 eco. Two of my buddies have been running same tunes on a 13 and 15, no issues and they run them hard. The 13 has 50k i think.

Stay away from ssi, i had tried them first given reading some good reviews and had nothing but issues.

I have a 2011 5.0 2wd with 68,000 miles. I've been running an SCT with 3 tunes from 5* for about a year and a half. I love it. I have had no issues with the truck it self. I have had it die on me twice in that time. Both time happened when coming to a complete stop ( low RPMs). I simply started the truck again, no big deal.

Customer service has been excellent. I added full true duel exhaust and headers and a CAI from 5* and got all new tunes at no cost.

I honestly couldn't be happier with how things have turned out.

Did they get you a new tune that wouldn't die on you? I'd be pissed.

na, it happened once coasting down a steep hill coming to a stop sign in my neighborhood. I had also recently reset the tune as I have 3 and move between them with some frequency. I threw it up to the learning period for the computer.

I haven't had any additional issues and still love the tunes over stock.

I have an '11 Lariat with the 6.2. In about Feb. of '13 I bought a SCT Livewire from 5*. Initially ordered it with three custom tunes. The truck has been fine and reliable. The device hasn't malfunctioned, but in the beginning, every once in a while the screen would freeze. Seemed to happen when it got hot from being in the sun. I leave it mounted on the windshield to use the gauges. About a year or so after I bought the Livewire I got two tunes from MPT, and then two more from 5*. So now my tunes range from 89 to 93 oct. performance and 91 tow tunes. Both 5* and MPT have nice tunes and good customer service. I had to have revisions on several of the tunes and both 5* and MPT were great.

After getting a quality tune on my 5.0, Im not worried at all. I feel like my truck is running and shifting better than stock.

I might have concern if I was running an Eco and had a tune cranking out serious boost over stock. But the NA engines are a little different.

The key word is quality tune. If you have one, the vehicle will last just as long as it would without a tune. I have had a tune on every vehicle i have owned since 2002 and not a single issue with any of them due to a tune.

There is no way you can quantify that. That is just your opinion.
