They package it together so you basically pay $20 extra bucks for three tunes from VMP. With Troyer there is a similar deal. Check out their sites.

Can you tell the difference between the custom tunes and the canned tunes?

Yes. The canned tunes are kind of a more powerful version of the OEM. They give you aggressive shift, revs, etc. But they do not do what the custom ones do, especially if you have any mods at all. They can do towing tunes performance, and mileage. Although the mileage's aren't worth it cause the efficiency you get from the performance is great and the most people don't like the laziness of the shifts in them.

So when you order one of the tuners you just let them know what mods and the model of you truck and they come up with custom tunes just for your truck?

Yeah, all of the tuners have their own little worksheet to fill out, some are more extensive than others.

It seems everyone here loves the SCT, but I got an edge evo this week and loved it. Before my truck barely broke traction at a dead stop now it lights 'em up and will fish tail all the way through first if I keep on it. The only problem I found was my Volant CAI would drone really bad and seemed to drag down the MPG I guess it was running too lean. I sent it off the powerhungyperfomance.com and they said they could do a custom tune and account for exhaust and get the drone out of the CAI and improve perf. I was getting around 13.5, but should get about 16 after. Does the SCT give problems w/ CAI?

Well, most of those with SCT flashers have purchased custom tunes on them. Any canned tune is not going to do a modified truck justice even if they are just a few bolt ons. Those canned tunes are just as generic as the stock programs, just a little more aggressive. Bill will take good care of you.

I have a 2000 F-150 with the 5.4L. I have a K&N Cold air on it, Cut off cats, and true duals. I am looking at buying a turner/programmer and really dont know what to buy I have heard mixed reviews on all. I do a lot of highway driving and also a lot of towing and need more power. I want something that is good on gas mileage and also easy on the tranny because I cannot afford to put a new one in at this time. My truck has 140,000 on it. I put about 40,000 a year on it and run 285/70/17 Nitto Terra grapplers because I live on a farm also. I was just wondering what would be the best route to go and not get to expensive because I am in college. Thanks Spenser
