Default Sealing Headlights and Painting Ovals and Decal Removal

So I had a day off today and did some randomness with the truck while it is waiting for the ram air hood to be painted. First, I bought a pair of harley style heads and after the first wash they leaked. So I know it's easy, but figured I would post up some pics and maybe it will help someone out someday.

Taking these heads out was much easier than the ones on my 01 did.

Here is the huge tool list needed for the seal job.

Then, 2 pieces of wet cardboard and the oven to 250 for a few minutes. 1 at a time.

Take em out, they are gonna be a little hot and then I pressed them together to compress what little seal there was before I put new stuff on. Then put a small layer on followed by a thicker coat that I trimmed after I took this pic when it hardened. At the start there were gaps so big I could see into the housing.

After trimming I slapped em back in there and used windex to get the smudges off the outside of the housing and that was that.

Next I removed the Ovals and painted them black. I have some stuff coming from Patriot Decals, but figured I would do this to see how it looked.

Back Oval was held in by strong emblem tape and 3 pins. Hair dryer and a rag covered screwdriver and off in 5 mins.

Front oval was held in by 3 small pins with nuts attached to the outer 2. Not tape as most people have said.

Stuck them in a couple of boxes so they were separated before cleaning and painting.

Didn't have any rubbing alcohol so I used something better. It helped to motivate me as well.

Here is the paint and clearcoat I used after getting wasted, um I mean cleaning the ovals off.

Here one is after a couple of coats of the Krylon fusion paint before the clearcoat.

I let it dry for an hour then applied 3 coats of clear coat.
Here they are after re-installing.

Then, before the last project some more cleaner.

If I don't like the finished product, my patriot decals stuff will be here soon.

Finally I removed the FX4 decals from the side of the truck. Real easy, again I abused the woman's hairdryer, and used some other very high tech tools.

The goo off worked great on this, especially if I kept the hairdryer going on it for a minute. Both stickers peeled off very easy. Make sure you peel real slow and try and get it all in one piece or as few as possible. It makes the cleanup real easy. A couple of minutes of goo off and wiping and they were gone and truck side was clean.

I will do the badges and show the total finished product when I get the hood on. Now, where is that cleaner at?????

Nice. I did that same thing with my factory headlights on my 99 before I bought my euros. Worked like a charm. And for painting the decals, looks good. I used the exact same primer and paint, and even the clear coat to do my dash parts

Put wax on the spots where you used the goo gone. You need it, BAD.
