Another one for Garmin. Super easy to use.

Completely agree. Doesn’t seem like it’d be difficult or expensive to incorporate into existing tech. I keep forgetting to pick up a dash cam and also don’t like the aftermarket set up (wires, mounting the the windshield). My last vehicle I waited too long and had a semi drift out of its lane, spin me out, and then hit me again after I spun into the trucks path. The truck driver blamed me so it was 50/50 since I had no witnesses.

I don't want to "thread jack" but I too am looking into getting a dash camera. With roughly 35% window tint on the back window is it worth it for me to get a rear facing one? Do you guys that have them prefer to have a small LCD screen on them? I feel like the only benefit to that really is maybe initial setup to find a good angle.

I've watched way too many videos, but it appears there's no problem with using the camera behind tint (at least for the ones I'm interested in.)

Thanks for the advice. I would just hate to spend the extra money for a second camera and realize it's useless at night.

Forgot to add - don't know what camera you're looking at, but the Sony sensors seemed to be some of (if not the best) for night video based on everything I've seen & read.
The ThinkWare system I'm looking at has the Sony sensors everyone seems to recommend.

On the budget it's dang hard to beat a A129 Pro (duo) or if you want all the fixins', a Thinkware U1000. Both sport Sony 8MP sensors.
