Default Programmer/CAI for 07 5.4L

Hi, I have an 07 5.4l f150 with 120k miles that currently has flowmaster dual cat-back exhaust, and I want to add a little bit of performance. I was thinking on getting a programmer, and maybe a cold air intake. Is a cold air intake necessary to get the most out of the programmer? I'm 16 and short on cash. Also, what is the best programmer for my specific truck? I've been looking at bullydogs, but gryphon seems more common.
Thanks

Go with Edge or SCT when looking at tuners, by far the most popular two brands for F series trucks.

And no, CAI isn't needed to get the performance out of a 5.4. I would suggest looking into a Gotts Mod ( search it on the forum ) as you can do your own basic CAI for cheap that way for the 5.4
