I used a heat gun and old credit card to pull mine off, popped them apart, sanded the texture smooth, primed, sprayed basecoat, clearcoated, reassembled, and used 3m doublesided adhesive to put back on. Not real difficult.

That looks great I want to leave the chrome and I like the texture look of them so should I just maybe rough it up a bit so the paint sticks good ?

I don't have a heat gun, so what else could I use?

Hairdryer would probably work. Some people use fishing line or dental floss to "saw" thru the adhesive tape.

Thanks. Use a scothbrite pad to scuff it up and spray an adhesion promotor before you put any paint down.
