Do Flowmaster 40 series, preferably the Original 40s, they got a nice deep rumble to them. But if you really wanna save money, get the Thrush Welded muffler, exact copy of the original 40 but way cheaper.

Heres a 4.6 with flowmaster 40s

12" Dynomax Bullets are about $40 on Summit. They are starting to get really popular with F150s. You could start with just replacing your stock muffler with one of them. I'm running duals with high-flow cats, x-crossover, and two bullets, but I've seen several people replace just the muffler with a Bullet and it sounds great.

They have the loudness of straight pipes with a better tone.

FYI if you really want to hear what different exhaust setups sound like plug in some nice speakers.
