Exhaust Idea
I just got a 00 7700 that is basically stock. I am thinking about building my own exhaust.
Basically I would use stock cats, then a 3 inch H pipe, then have 3 inch straight pipe to a couple Flowmaster 40 series that then dumped to the ground.
Does that sound like a good plan, or is a true dual setup better? Any other suggestions are welcome.

I'm lost, both of those setups are true duals???
Either way I would run duals with 3" tubing, you would lose all low end TQ.
You would be better off if you used 2.5" or 2.25" tubing.

True duals is having two pipes runing threw the entire exhaust, not just after the muffler.
Yes you would be much better off with 2.5", but if you wanted it to be as loud as possible use the 3".
P.S. I would run a X-pipe rather than a H, but either is fine.

I am looking for a good sound and the MPG/ Power increase. I dont care much about how loud it is, I am sure it is going to be louder anyway with just the flowmasters.
I suppose that dual 2.5" is going to be much better than single 2.5"

Well for duals you would want 2.5" tubing but with a single outlet you would want 3" tubing, thats what I currently have. They both will be about the same performance wise.
If you want a better power increase stay away from the Flows. If you want a loud, some say as loud as flows if not louder, go with this, but if you want a a more quiet exhaust go with this. The general rule with mufflers is that the shorter they are the louder they are, and ones that have a smaller body or case will also be louder than one that is larger.
Both of those mufflers will be much better performance wise than Flows.

go with a flow-through muffler instead of baffled. If you really want to be **** about it, run duals without a crossover.....shoot spray paint on the bottom side of the pipes and run the crossover where the paint gets scalded/cooked off.

Definitely agree with what Tide said. I'd sacrifice sound over power anyday. You'll still get a good sound out of the 2.5" or 2.25" piping and you won't lose alot of back pressure or torque.
