Electric Fan
I have searched this forum for posts on electric fans, and come up with very little. I did find a few references to a post by dr_bowtie titled "E-Fan", but when I search for it, nothing comes up.
I am thinking about installing an electric fan to my 2006 Scab, 5.4L 3v.
What I am looking for is other peoples experiences with performance gain.
- Did you notice a power gain?
- Better towing power?
- MPG increase?
These are the criteria I am using to judge if the cost is worth it.
My independent research so far has narrowed my choice to 2 kits...
Flex-A-Lite or Troyer Performance.
I would make more of a DIY project out of it if I could get more details on aquiring and assembling all components myself. I just don't want to make a mistake and cook my engine.
Your help is appreciated.

1. Yes there will be a gain. Depends how your butt dyno is calibrated for you how much you feel. Realistically it's in the 5-10 hp range.
2. A little more power is a little better towing ability, but don't expect to feel the little extra power with 5000 lbs behind you.
3. MPG with any mod is going to vary on driving style and several other factors. Most will see a .5-1 mpg gain with responsible driving.
Troyer makes a good kit for the DIY'er, although they have had issues with the controllers. But if it fails it just runs all the time until you can upgrade to a dc. DC controllers are the best in the business. With the Flex-A-Lite (I'd suggest looking a Spal or 09+ stock F150 fans) you can customize it a little more. Here's a good thread about the actual installing of them and what it takes.

And some more for fun.
