Default CAI mud?

ok I know that a lot of yall have CAIs that are exposed (you can see the filter), when you go mudding do you have any problems with it getting all muddy? or dirt or anything getting in there?

my air intake gets caked. and i could only imagine what would happen with a CAI, unless the shield around it is somewhat waterproof.

i dont have a CAI on my F-150 but i have one on my ranger and i run a K&N pre-filter on it to keep the water/ mud out of the filter element.

K&N has 2 pre-filters 1 called a precharger and one called a drycharger basicly its a plastic bag for your filter.

The precharger from the description I got is for desert and fine dust environments.

The drycharger is for water and mud.

I looked at www.summitracing.com and searched for drycharger they are about $30 depends on the filter size you are covering

ok ok cool Im thinking about getting a summit CAI and put a K&N filter w/ something to protect it from the elements since it will be exposed compared to the "in the box" apps
