Trying to verify if this sound is what everyone else is hearing on cold starts. My 2011 with a 6.2 has this rattle nearly every start below 40 degrees. Ford is telling me this is normal for a 6.2.

 

Thanks for posting about this, 2011. What's the current mileage on your truck? Please fill me in with this information, as well as when you last visited the dealer regarding this concern; I'll research any additional options.

Brittany. First started bringing this up to the dealership at 48000. Currently at 70500. One dealership replaced passenger side tappets which made no difference under warranty and the other told me all the 6.2's make noise. Just looking for confirmation from other owners that this is indeed normal. Got some responses from another thread where they are hearing this as well.

 

I'll chime in, my raptor does the same exact thing. It's not every time on cold starts, just every once and a while. To me it sounds like the injectors just being really loud until the computer sorts out how much fuel each of them needs. But I'm no ford engineer.

 

I hear the same thing with my 2011 6.2. It reminds me of the sound I hear upon a cold start up with my Wrangler also.

 

Same issue here. Our last 3.6 Pentastar did the exact thing. Which is in numerous Jeep, Ram, and Dodge vehicles. It drove me nuts. Its quite common on vehicles and as far as I can tell it not harming anything. Just really annoying.

 

My Raptor does the same thing from time to time as well. As far as I can tell it's normal, but it doesn't hurt to take it in so that there is a record on file in the event something does happen.
