Default 2020 Ford Ranger Raptor

What do you think about the Ranger Raptor? It’s manufactured in Australia and available only to Asian and European markets. Ford states they have no plans to make it avail to US markets. I know it probably doesn’t appeal to full size Raptor customers but what about the mid size truck customer? I think Ford could sell the doors off this truck. I saw this truck for the first time last week in a 3rd world country, the Philippines.

I don't suspect we'll see a ranger raptor here until a new ranger model comes out.

I think the 2.0 diesel, while cool for what it is, does not belong in that truck.

it sells in the Philippines for 39k with a 2.0 twin turbo diesel. If it were made available in the US you’d expect to see an eco boost gas 2.0 or 2.7. The diesel is torquey though with 368 ft pounds of torque.

the diesel would never pass as a raptor motor for the American market, no matter how awesome it is.

If Ford thought they could sell the doors off this truck here in the US, they would be. Think about this - a fully loaded Ranger Lariat has an MSRP of almost $50k. I'm going to speculate that the Raptor package would add another $10k? You're now at $60k for a small Ranger. There's no way I'd paying that kind of money since I'm now knocking at the door of a full sized decent equipped Raptor.

This all being said, and while it's not for me, I think the Ranger Raptor is a neat looking truck.

Yes I agree. I am still trying to figure out the pricing different for different countries. It sells for 39K in the Philippines, 58K in Australia and 77K in Europe(all USD). I can't see any difference other than right side driver vs left side drive. The build seems identical. I agree this wouldn't sell well in the US for 60k+. Sell it in the US for the Philippines price of 39K and I'll buy one. Any more and I'll stick with my full size truck.

Imagine me though in a 3rd world country over Christmas and I see a Ranger Raptor for the first time. I didn't even know they exist and they're in a 3rd world country where 20% of the population lives on less than $3/day and an engineering or nursing degree get you a job for $500/month and this truck isn't avail in the US. I was shocked.
